Del Negro: Can't match wits with Popovich

08:06 AM ET 05.15 | Gregg Popovich has 15-plus years, more than 100 playoff wins and four NBA titles in his coaching career, while Vinny Del Negro has eight postseason wins in his young coaching career. [The Spurs boast] a 14-game winning streak and about as many reasons to like their chances of advancement. Somewhere on that list: They have the NBA's Coach of the Year in their huddle, and the Los Angeles Clippers do not. For [the embattled Del Negro], a former Spurs guard now charged with out-maneuvering his old boss in a seven-game series, the task could not be more daunting. "I don't know if you can match wits with Coach Pop," Del Negro said after the Clippers practiced Monday at the AT&T Center.

If the spurs win this series it won't be because of Pops wit, it'll be because the spur have more talent period.

I wouldn't say that at all.

Of course Del Negro can't be compared to Pop. Pop has 16 years on him.

However, while the lowly Del Negro only has eight playoff wins in his first year as head coach, the Spurs missed the playoffs all together in Pop's first year at that same position!

In fact, they were so bad, they got first pick in the following year's lottery!

Vinny vs Pop is like a NBDL player going 1-on-1 with a HOF NBA player

Since when do coaches suit up and play? Apparently FanNation ran out of stories this morning.

Correction: Del Negro had three playoff wins his first year as HC of the Bulls! Still more than zip!

Just a little. But we'll eventually get that 17th title...

Long before any team not named Celtics!

Not a little by 30 in bball terms that is a smash at the highest degree. I expect the Lake show to pull it together but OKC guard play is too much for them, and if Gasol doesnt step up its a wrap Bynum played well but they are going to have to make a statement with the their height advantage, if not I wouldnt be surprised if they won either no games or just 1....You think the Celtics are better than OKC?

If OKC keep playing the way they did last night, you could combine the Heat, Spurs and Celtics rosters to play against them and OKC would still win the title!

BTW, anytime the Lakers lose in the playoffs, I have to root for the team that beat us to win it all! Nothing worse than losing to a loser!

Boy did they ever.

The Lakers got ran out of the gym last night.

Kobe, wasn't lying in his press conference. They can't guard them, but it was amusing to see him say it. Very funny stuff. All great runs come to an end, he knows it, but at least he got 5 while it lasted.

The Spurs and the Heat were on a collision course all year, but now that Bosh is done for the season, the Spurs look like they have one for the thumb.

Where was Pop last year when Memphis swept them out of the playoffs?
