08:28 AM ET 05.15 | Canadian hockey fans have a good number of offseason topics in addition to the draft, including possible coaching changes for three north-of-the-border clubs. The Canadiens are in the process of touching base with potential head coach candidates including Michel Therrien, Guy Carbonneau, Marc Crawford, and Bob Hartley. Interviews have not been set up and the process is in the early stages. The Flames head coach search is also still in the early stages. A list of 10-12 candidates is to be pared to 5-6 for interviews. Bob Hartley and Troy Ward are prominent. There are crickets on the Edmonton Oilers' coaching front. Tom Renney's contract is expiring. So is that of general manager Steve Tambellini.

Naaah. What's more exciting speculating about which recycled coach is going where or the game last night?

Speaking of which. I'm still trying to figure out that delay of game penalty on New Jersey in the first period. Did Volchenkov close his hand on the puck?

no idea...same thing with the call on Rupp in the 3rd. The one time he DOESN'T do something stupid, and he gets called....
Also maybe could have called one on Giradi for that "closing the hand" thingy...not sure, but sure looked like it

If there's too much "closing the hand" they need some time in the "box."

"Tom Renney's contract is expiring. So is that of general manager Steve Tambellini."

Does that mean that Kevin Lowe is planing in making a comeback as both?

Yikes! Perish the thought!

Just about anything is more exciting than last night's game. Even a Wild or a CBJ thread is better than that!

Montreal : bring back Guy Carbonneau and bring in Larry Robinson as his assistant, keep Conneyworth around as a thank you for SCREWING him on the deal earlier.. Robinson has said he'd come back to Montreal in less then a heartbeat, and he and Guy are good friends and former teammates.

as for Calgary and Edmonton... meh...
