08:02 AM ET 05.16 | LeGarrette Blount said Tuesday that "Nobody can affect my carries but me," and yet he's also embracing the competition brought on by Doug Martin. Even before the draft, Blount knew the Bucs were going to find someone to come after his job. So he took advantage of the off-season program to lose between five and 10 pounds. "I kind of had the idea they were going to draft another guy, so you've got to come back in the best shape possible," Blount said. ... In fact, Blount believes the addition of Martin and Smith will eventually make him a more complete player. "I think I will become a better player having other guys compete for the job," Blount said. "Them drafting a running back might have been what I needed to become an every down back."

Good answer. Just don't punch him in the face.

Definitely a delusional guy he is

You know, this kid seems to have turned it around a bit after his infamous days at Oregon.

A challenge never hurt anyone.

The name Blount is a curse , is he related to Corey Blount ? My prediction is he'll tear his ACL in week 3 . Bet on it !

At least he sounds like he is dealing with the situation as an adult. It's a definite improvement over his whining before the draft.

Maybe it's Fla week?

He may become a more complete player because of who they drafted but he'll never be an every down back.

If he starts to lose his job, he can always punch them in the face

New Coach, new opportunity, good for him!

Somebody get security; We have a Boise St. and Oregon player in the same locker room. Martin will win the competition but Blount will break Martins knees in the parking lot after practice, thus securing his job. Either that or he'll put a bounty on his own teammate.

Blounty (n): a bounty on one's own teammate.

Good to know that the kid realizes he can punch his own ticket.
