MJD wants a new contract, and Mularkey knows it

08:03 AM ET 05.16 | OTAs are underway, which renews a debate over the definition of voluntary -- specifically, in this case, how it might differ between Mike Mularkey and Maurice Jones-Drew. [Mularkey went on the record Tuesday saying Jones-Drew] wants a contract extension. ... It's not unusual for Jones-Drew to miss OTAs, but this statement is likely related to the fact that his salary has fallen down the list of the league's best-paid running backs. ... "I wish he was here. He knows we wish he was here. His teammates have talked to him about it. It's a personal decision. There's nothing I can do about it. I think if I spend a lot of energy on worrying about that, it's not going to go in a good direction for the guys that are here."

MJD was AWOL from OTAs.

point in hand is MJD is not a team player. He don't care if the Jags go 0-16 .he just wants the $$$$$$

Wow, can I get a contract extension and big bucks guaranteed? I don't care if the Jags go 0-16, either.

They need to remind Jones-Drew that the reason he is getting " only " $4.5 million this year and next is because they gave him a $9 million bonus when he signed that $32 million contract in 2009.
With two years left on it Jones-Drew figures his big paydays are now over if he does not get a big contract again.
Not going to happen.

OTA means ya don't have to go. Just wait. How many people here would go to work if they did not "have" to , knowing they would get paid the same?

I'd like to compliment both Wes Welker and MJD on how smoothly they handled exchanging the 'Don't Give Me What I Want, I Won't Show Up' baton. Nicely done gentlemen, nicely done.

MJD deserves anything the lowly Jags can offer them.

May 16, 2012  10:10 AM ET

With Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne at QB, who really cares what the Jags do otherwise? They're going nowhere. Still, acting out a Bears/Forte scenario isn't that smart. MJD is all they have.

There must be a lot of people in America that hate their job or are just plain lazy. Since most Americans will boast that they are the hardest working people in the world, and their isn't a lazy cell in their body, I'm going with the second reason; They hate their job. Is it because of the kind of work they do that makes them hate there job- Not really. Is it the wages the receive- That may be a small part. The reason why most people hate their jobs is because of management. I would say that a rough estimate would indicate that 80% of the people in management should not be in a managerial position.

That's why they call it "work." If it were fun, they'd call it "play."
