Elway likes his QB of the future, too

08:04 AM ET 05.16 | John Elway, with an eye toward the future while on a conference call with more than 6,000 Broncos ticket-holders, offered a few kind words for his rookie quarterback. [Elway] gave a strong endorsement of rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler as Manning's eventual successor. The Broncos drafted Osweiler at No. 57 in the second round. "When we looked at Brock, the ability to get that type of quarterback, who I believe has a tremendous amount of upside, I feel like we got great value with that pick," Elway said. "We are set for the future, and he's our guy for the future. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the short term for the long term to draft a guy that you believe can be that next guy for you, and that's Brock Osweiler."

Sure he couldn't win at Arizona State... but he beat out Elway's kid for the job, thus he must be good... Elway is a JOKE in the front office. Once the Manning experiment fizzles out (no way he is a pro-bowler in his 40's, IF he even is at full strength now) the Broncos will be AWFUL! They are 3-4 years out from being the worst team in the NFL.

Brock Osweiler wasn't even that great of a QB in college. Holding a clipboard for 2-3 years is supposed to make him better? The Broncos QB coach was never a quarterback, he's not going to be a whole lot of help to Osweiler.
