Bulls aren't planning to see Rose next season

08:07 AM ET 05.16 | That word, "if," now hangs ominously in Chicago. If Derrick Rose returns next season, it's unlikely he'll be the player he was before he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee April 28. That's if he returns. The doctor who performed the successful surgery to repair Rose's isolated ACL tear and a meniscus tear Saturday morning at Rush University Medical Center said some athletes take longer to recover for reasons that can be physiological as well as psychological. "There's no question that happens," Dr. Brian Cole said. "People ask why don't you get back to pre-injury level. In some cases, there's just a level of confidence." ... The Bulls aren't counting on Rose returning next season. They aren't even planning for it.

They should plan on a high draft pick.

Worked for the Spurs years ago...

I hope to see Rose playing at his best level again, his highlights are unreal.

It is sad to see players get injured all the time, NBA needs more durable players like Kobe, Nash, etc

Rose is done , stick a fork in him , the bulls would be wise to draft a PG

I feel bad for him, I hope he recovers... But as a Knicks fan, I'll quote Nelson from the Simpsons "Haa Haa!" to Bulls fans.

Rose and The Bulls will be fine. With the Charlotte pick and the kid they have stashed over in Europe they will have some great young players coming in to work inn Thibbs system. Plus, even if Rose misses a majority of the next NBA season the Bulls will still be better team than the Knicks.

Things change quickly in the NBA don't they? :)

What are smiling at? The Knicks barely made the playoffs and then got bounced in the first round. Again. So I guess the more things change the more they remain the same. Plus, your best young players both went down with knees that require surgery. Shump tore an ACL. Same as Rose. So, again. What do you have to smile about?

Great. The sad thing is the Bulls could still be better than a lot of teams out there. At the same time, considering how badly they went down against the Sixers after Rose got hurt, we could see the NBA version of the Colts next season, where they lost their best player (Peyton Manning) and just completely died.

I get what you are saying but I dont see this happening. Rose missed half THIS season and the Bulls still finished with the NBA's best record. If Noah doesnt go down the game after Rose then the Bulls are playing Boston right now in a toss up. Hell if CJ keeps the ball and hits a couple free throws the Bulls push Philly to a 7th game homecoming without Rose AND Noah.

This team aint gonna collapse no matter who goes down. They will still compete.

If there is anyone that can come back and once again be a very good basketball player it's D. Rose... Therefore, he should stay out next year so that his knee will be fully healed so when he returns to training he won't sub-comb psychologically.
