Carlisle's future yoked to D-Will

08:08 AM ET 05.16 | Rick Carlisle has re-upped in Dallas, where he's likely to surpass 500 wins. Despite radically different rosters with the Pistons, Pacers and Mavericks, Carlisle consistently wins games. He is 479-325 in his career with an NBA title. How much more successful he will be with the Mavs for the forseeable future largely depends on what other moves are made this summer. Hopefully Carlisle has a "Deron Williams" out clause in his contract, or something to that effect. As good of a head coach as Carlisle is, this is a player's league. If the Mavs don't acquire a D-Will, or another high caliber scorer and a more legit interior presence, Carlisle won't make it the duration of this deal.

I'm sure his a "good" coach, but would someone please tell him to quit whining so much? His press conferences and interviews are tough to watch, " waaa, waaa, waaaaaa!"

Pop makes no excuses. Pop is direct and in control. The BS the Mavs had with that slug Mr. Kardashian , with their coach playing apologist, then irritated, then whiner, was hilarious. Pop would have never tolerated that crap. (Lam-Lam would never be consider to wear the Silver and Black).

So yeah, I prefer Pop 's press statements every time!

Well IMO, with the ring he helped bring to the Mavs, I say it would be smart for the Mavs to at least see him thru the duration of his contract........would be smart Mavs.

As for Williams he needs to come home, his career will further blossom if he does. He would also avert a disastrous bad decision if he elects to sign with the Nets..........Williams this would also be smart.

I would only say that he had little control over that one, other than the DNP - Coach's Decision moves.

But - I don't recall Carlisle being a "whiner"... especially after Game 4 against the Blazers last season.

I would have canned him regardless , trade Dirk And jettison the remaining parts and build a new blueprint.
