Scioscia losing grip, job on the line?

08:14 AM ET 05.16 | Between Mickey Hatcher and the fellow who's due $240 million, guess which one the Angels had walk the plank Tuesday. Fair or not, the dismissal of Hatcher, the hitting coach of a team that hasn't hit, was hardly a shock. It was, however, the first cruel and calculated evidence of the pressure that adding Albert Pujols has brought to the Angels. Super. So the guy hasn't produced, has been booed at home and now has contributed significantly to a decent man losing his job. ... [Hatcher's] firing also was a stark reminder that Mike Scioscia should be feeling the heat, too. Once so in charge of this franchise, Scioscia's grip evidently isn't so tight anymore. He almost certainly wouldn't have dismissed his close friend and former teammate.

Stick a fork in them.

Scioscia will be the next to go. Ownership doesn't spend the money they did to have a poor product on the field.

I recall a thread earlier this spring about the most secure job being Scioscia's. Makes sense on paper, but axing your hitting coach in mid May? Smacks of desperation.

You just never know. People thought Terry Francona was pretty secure last year as well.

Yeah it has been slow since the spinny problems seemed to get worse.

Sounds like the new GM is starting to poke around and establish himself.

Go ahead, dude... we Rangers fans won't feel bad if you jettison one of the best managers in the game.

Not one bit...

Hard to believe Mike Scioscia will be out, but bobby V should be available next year. He has west coast ties.

We'll give them Bobby V right now, free of charge.

Only if you take Joe Girardi with him. He can be the bench coach.

The over/under for how many different managers Albert Pujols will play under during that 10 year contract is 3.

IMO, he's a little overrated. His teams have had success over the years making the playoffs, but for the most part have done very little once they are there. He has also taken advantage over the last decade of playing in a 4 team division, that until the recent emergence of the Rangers was pretty weak, with relatively low payrolls. All in all, I think there are plenty of managers out there who could just as good a job

You are charitable enough to sit in a car with that windbag?
