08:17 AM ET 05.16 | USC coach Lane Kiffin is halfway there. [Kiffin] said he wanted to bring in two quality running backs in the class of 2013. ... The Trojans picked up a huge verbal pledge Tuesday when tailback Ty Isaac of Joliet, Ill., committed to USC. Scout ranks Isaac (6-2, 215) as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 tailback in the class of '13. Rivals has Issac as a four-star prospect, the No. 2 tailback and the No. 18 overall player. He ranks 68th in the ESPN 150. Isaac, who attends Joliet Catholic High, becomes the sixth player to commit to USC for 2013. Another tailback recruit, Justin Davis of Stockton, also has USC among his finalists. He's expected to announce his choice Thursday.

Damn, I'm the lead off hitter on all these. WTFjj with all you sleepyheads?

Back to the topic. USC can win without a running back. LSU won without a QB!

Now, if they can only find a decent coach!

Nice, against everyone guesses and some others wishes LK is getting it done at USC. This year will be a defining year for him.

I think next year may be the defining year. It'll be the first year to feel the effects of the scholly losses and trying to patch lines together with little depth could take its toll.

If he gets thru 2013 and 2014 with 9-10 win seasons then, he'll have earned his keep.

My forefathers were among the founders of Joliet, Ill. Two of their sons escaped that town, heading for warmer climes (though back then, that meant the southern Atlantic coast, not southern California). At the time, Joliet was a gateway to the Great Plains, and the trips west were made in wagons.

Frankly, Layla grants Lane a huge dose of clemency from those who would otherwise prosecute him for his considerable transgressions. This UTK alum wishes him well in providing for his family. Now, if his pride is often & severely wounded, well, that wouldn't trouble me, nor should it bother you, as long as the job is getting done. Capiche?

Mine were convinced by the Mexican govt that the free land west of the Brazos River would provide excellent farming and buffalo hunting.

They failed to mention just how fierce the Comanches were about not giving up that part of Tejas. And, that the area in central Texas was a buffer so that the Comanches would not attack the Mexican settlements further south.

Bet they didn't mention the humidity and mosquitoes, either.

Oh well, it turned out fine, didn't it?
