Room for Crosby, Staal and Malkin?

08:26 AM ET 05.16 | Ray Shero, with his team long since bounced from the playoffs, has lots of work to do. Sidney Crosby and Jordan Staal have one year left on their contracts, and Evgeni Malkin has two. Negotiations with Crosby and Staal can't begin until July 1, so there's no way of knowing precisely what they'll be asking for, but Shero reiterated that his goal is to retain all three. "I'd like to do that, if possible," he said. "We're looking at hopefully getting extensions with [Crosby and Staal]." While it is conceivable that Staal, the team's No. 3 center, might want to play elsewhere so he can fill a more offense-oriented role, he apparently has not said anything of the sort to the Penguins.

Crosby's tougher then I thought, plays football and hockey. Also he is a little taller then I remember.

And now they change the pic to make all your comments look silly.

Shero's not going to be able to get it done unless someone gives him a hometown discount.

With Crosby's longterm health in question, it would seem that keeping Staal would certainly be a priority

Staal can't carry the team if Crosby or Malkin, or both goes down, so...

You just don't trade Crosby. You don't. He is a cash cow here...as long as he is healthy, and if he isn't, he will retire.

If the Cap goes up as much as they are predicting under the new CBA, keeping all three could be a possibility. However, even if they could, I am not sure wants to be the third line center anymore.

They don't need to change a picture to do that.

Ray Shero, with his team long since bounced from the playoffs...

I don't have a followup comment I just wanted to copy and paste that.

Aaah.....................you're in Cup Final form! :-)

Trade Staal now while he is perceived as a valued player. Get some good return for him to patch some holes.

With Crosby's concussions, my point is Staal by default becomes the second line center for much of the season. Can the Pens risk the possibility of having only 1 front line center if they trade Staal?
