08:04 AM ET 05.17 | Browns quarterback Colt McCoy won't be rolling out the red carpet and simply handing over his job, despite so much conventional wisdom pointing in that direction. [McCoy] is determined to stave off the challenge from rookie Brandon Weeden for his starting job. "I'm a competitor and I'm working harder than ever," he told The Plain Dealer in an email. They were his first public remarks since Weeden was drafted No. 22 overall to become the Browns' starter. McCoy declined further comment, choosing to focus on the off-season program and the challenge he'll get from Weeden. McCoy might be available next week when the team open its organized activities to the media for one of the three days.

I like Colt and supported him and will continue to support him. However, if Weeden is as good as they are saying then he is the man. Everyone talks about lack of weapons but I believe a good qb makes his own weapons. Just see how good Garcon is in Washington without Peyton.

Just see how good Garcon is in Washington with RG-III.

In the spirit of "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then, " the Danny and Shanny Show is going to put an exciting and competitive team on the field this season.

McCoy commented by email. Sure. He must've given daddy his Hotmail password.

If Hightower can do anything coming back from that ACL injury, it should be a show.

Dude trust me, I like Garcon. He went to Mount Union here in Ohio. But he is not a $50 million receiver.

This is Weeden's job to lose.

I just don't think Griffin will make it through the season. With his frame, he is going to be punished and possibly end up like Vick. Then it was 37 first round picks for a guy who is injured all of the time. But we will see. He could be the next Doug Williams!

The Megatron deal put wide receiver prices into the Irrational Exhuberance zone. No, you're right, he ain't worth that kind of money. Not even Megatron or Welker is worth that kind of money.

Still, he'll give RG-III a guy who can run routes and catch the ball.

I think RG-III will be as much fun as Cam Newton, with more upside as he learns the pro game.

This is true, but you can't throw when you are on your back or constantly running for your life. Brady didn't have a bunch of pro bowlers when he won 3 super bowls but his line gave him time to throw.

Yeah good luck with that Colt

Yes, but besides Pashos the line was not that bad. You have possibly the best LT in Joe Thomas and a pro bowler (2010) in Mack at center and decent guards. Again, I love Colt but I think he ran for his life either too early or held on to the ball too long.

He's also had 2 coaches in 2 years and the former was a d&ck!

Yes, this is true.

Being a Texas guy I am pulling for McCoy, but I think a change of scenery is what he will need here. Chrisbrandon Wienkeweeden has been handed the starter job by the media at least, and Holmgren will likely follow their lead.

Is it sad or really common that I have no idea who the coach is this year in Cleveland? Hey maybe that could be a problem up in Cleveland? Maybe? Huh? Maybe? Personally I am surprised that Holmgren hasn't just pushed the coaching staff out of hte way and shouted "MooooVE!" and did it himself like Jimmy Fallon's IT guy character on SNL!

He will have better protection and someone to hand-off to. He has pre-season to prove himself. If he has a poor start I don't think the Brown's will be afraid to pull the trigger.
