08:06 AM ET 05.17 | Titans GM Ruston Webster said Wednesday that a quarterback competition between Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker is well underway. Webster said he and the coaching staff are going over practice video of the two quarterbacks on a daily basis, and that they will be charting throws and keeping statistics from practices as well. "It's very detailed," Webster said. "Stats are a part of it. But like I've said before, I'm not a huge stats guy." So how does he think a decision will eventually be reached on whether to go with the veteran (Hasselbeck) or the second-year pro (Locker)? "It will probably be a gut feel more than anything else," Webster said. "I think they'll both do well. But I think it will be a gut feel."

In other words... He's hoping like hell that Locker wins the job but he's pretty certain he won't.

He'll go by gut feel: whichever QB makes him take fewer Tums will get the job.

If it's based on stats, Locker's in deep doo-doo; he never did hit the numbers he should've been able to generate at the UW.

Hasselbeck for a while, then it's going to be Locker.

Three games into season will let us know who will finish the season......Hasselback will be on a very short lease........if he loses two out of three, Jake will be introduced as our new starter.......

Hasselbeck and Locker.....<yawn>.....should make for a thrilling QB competition.

If coaching and "gut feel" don't work, they could always try horseshoes or coin flips.

Heads it's Hasselbeck, tails it's Locker. There ya go!

They could use a modified version of Russian Roulette. The first QB to shoot himself in the foot gets to hold the clipboard.

Just the opposite: if either of them is accurate enough to hit his own foot, bandage it up good. You've found your starter.

Good point. Better not teach them the shotgun just yet, though.

I think you and Wawa are both dead on... Matt may start the season but Jake will finish it up.

If I were the HC, I would start Hasselbeck. See how he does. My guess is that he'll be OK, but he won't light the place up. Eventually, it will be time for Locker, but it's better to bring him in as the white knight on horseback. If they start him the first week and he stinks the place up, there will be hell to pay.

concur........don't want him to go the VY route....just hope Britt can make it past the first three games....all that talent and not on the field for an entire season....if he goes down this year, its time to move on.....
