08:09 AM ET 05.18 | If Mike Woodson's staying in New York, Patrick Ewing won't be interviewed by the Knicks any time soon. But Thursday, the Big Fella moved a step closer to his first head-coaching job when he interviewed for the Bobcats position in Charlotte. If Ewing is going to land a head-coaching job in the near future, this could be his best shot as the friendship and mutual respect he shares with Bobcats owner Michael Jordan can't be overstated. The interviews are being conducted by president Rod Higgins and general manager Rich Cho, but Jordan is expected to make the final call. One person familiar with the situation said this was hardly a courtesy interview, that Ewing has a "good chance" of being Paul Silas' successor.

I remember one Lawrence Frank being given an opportunity by the Nets and no one really knew all that well to say the least, and look how that turned out for them. He did really well and it springboarded his very good coaching career and I can't see why big Pat can't achieve the same kinda success if given the opportunity. Who knows after the draft, and what kind of influence Pat would have on existing players. I say good luck Pat........if you coach as you played the game, you'll be an success even if it is the Bobcats as you starting point!

they got progressively worse under frank and he was fired when the team started 0-16... not exactly a ringing endorsement there!

It's not like anyone else is knocking the door down in Charlotte trying to get that job.
