08:13 AM ET 05.18 | It's still only May, Detroit. [Manager] Jim Leyland isn't willing to wave the white flag, but he's certainly disappointed by his team's murky start to the season. Leyland admitted Thursday that he's surprised with his team's lack of early-season success, simply suggesting that his team has yet to click on all cylinders. "We just really haven't gotten consistent in any area for any period of time," Leyland said following his team's 4-3 loss Thursday. "Everything just bites you when you're not going real good." Despite losing 17 of its last 26 games, Leyland said his club remains upbeat after its series-sweeping loss to the last-place Minnesota Twins. The loss knocked the Tigers two games below .500 and 3 1/2 games behind [Cleveland].

And someone has to be in third.

People really overrated the Tigers based on a hot month and a half at the end of the season (which was made possible by a particularly soft schedule down the stretch) and a lucky series win over the Yankees in the ALDS.

There isn't a good team in the AL Central.

Sure is!

QUOTE(#11):

I thought Fat Boy Fielder at first and Miggy "Hoover" Cabrera at third guaranteed a WS trip?

I think a lot of people thought that too. The addition of Fielder helped their offense, but people forget the subtraction of Victor Martinez, who had a very good season for the Tigers last year.

Victor was the offensive lynchpin last year. Huge loss for them.

Nothing lucky about it. The Yankees just aren't that good.

Before you Yankee homers get your panties in a knot... You know I'm right. Save it.
