09:25 AM ET 05.19 | Nolan Ryan expects Josh Hamilton to hit the free agency market after the season, downplaying any possibility the Texas Rangers have of signing the slugger to an extension during the season. Ryan, the team's president and CEO, said the team hasn't exchanged numbers with Hamilton or his agent, Mike Moye, and won't until after the season.

It'll never happen the way you never saw Lee go there and you'll never see Greinke go there. Josh has demons. The Bronx will unleash them in a way that won't be pretty.

I do hope this turns out well. I have my doubts.

Agreed. And that is why Ryan is taking a wait and see attitude with Hamilton. "One Day at a Time" and "Multi-year contract" are not necessarily compatible.

Wonder if it'll be a positive test.

Ah yes

That's 4 parts Jim Beam Black Bourbon
1-1/2 parts Amaretto Liqueur
2 drops bitters
Splash fresh squeezed Orange Juice
2 Lime wedges
Serve up with a sliced Orange wheel

"Delish"

Orioles?

it would be interesting if maybe the Astros made a go at Hamilton. They're moving to the AL next year and play in a bandbox. It won't happen, but it would be interesting.

My thoughts exactly.

I think if he does go somewhere else, it might really test his character. Especially if he would then have a start like Pujols has this year.

I'm afraid Hamilton will be out of baseball within a year if he goes elsewhere...which he probably will. I just can't see Ryan handicapping the entire team over one contract, even as good as Hamilton can be. The Rangers have already BTDT with Arod. It didn't work.

Nolan Ryan isn't necessarily as concerned about Hamilton's "demons" as he is about his health. He has logged considerable injury time with the Rangers except his first season when he played 156 games. Ryan is smart to wait and see 1. if he can go injury free for an entire season and 2. see what kind of numbers he can then put up

Some team will offer him stupid money, despite the demons and the injuries. That's where he will go. I'm guessing Milwaukee right now.

let the buyer beware!!!!
