10:23 AM ET 05.19 | While Jeff Samardzija took pains to explain to White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski he felt bad for hitting Paul Konerko in the face with a split-fingered fastball, Bryan LaHair was upset that an apparent retaliation pitch from Sox pitcher Philip Humber sailed behind his head. "I definitely felt like it was intentional," LaHair said. "They waited a whole inning, and then the first pitch was right at my head. I'm all right with getting hit. I understand. But you start getting around people's heads, that's kind of dangerous. It could be scary. I didn't get hurt or anything, so just kind of move on from it." LaHair said he expected retaliation.

If Mr. LaHair took issue with Mr. Humber pitch, perhaps he should taken it up with him on the mound...

Instead of in the media...

"Hit a two run homer off of me will ya?"

PLUNK!!

"Whoops, my bad."

This is dumb. Samardzija didn't hit Konerko in the face on purpose.

Haha yeah, it seems like Shane wears the pants in that relationship.

The head is off Limits, the guy should get a 20 Game suspension nothing less and the team should be fined 500K, but of course Bud Light Is the Commissioner!!!

lol

who threw right at him?? no WAY Samardzija was trying to hit Konerko, let alone in the face!! if that's the case, how come ZERO warnings were issues by the umpires UNTIL Humber retaliated by throwing at LaHair's head???

It was a breaking ball that didn't break.

Konerko hits a Home Run Then gets hit in The Head, not the body THE HEAD, I rest my case, if I'm the commissioner that guys out of baseball a month! He threw at his Head!

May 19, 2012  01:13 PM ET

lol...considering the umpire didn't even issue a warning, good luck with your "commissioner suspending him a month"....he won't get jack@#$

May 19, 2012  01:13 PM ET

and if Samardzija's out a month then so is Humber, because he did the exact same thing!!! his aim just sucked!!!

I don't think your case has much merit. Why not (if done intentionally) hit him with a regular fastball and not a splitter?

Humber should have kept his retaliation much lower on LaHair's body.

Humber probably intentionally threw BEHIND his head just to send a message, he wasn't necessarily trying to hit LaHair in the head. Besides, retaliation is expected in some form.

I think Samardzija hit Konerko on purpose because he had earlier hit a homer, but I don't think he hit him in the face on purpose. Samardzija also hit Justin Heyward of the Reds on May 7th after he hit a home run. And did you see Samardzija's hissy fit after Beckham later hit a homer off him.?

Never hit him!!! That's da difference, retaliation is when you hit da man!!!

Samardzija's free Ride is over, and so are da Cubs, this guy pitches in The National League he's a marked man and so are his teammates, too bad for them!
