Browns wowed by Weeden's work

09:54 AM ET 05.20 | The Browns can call the set up of Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy a competition. Weeden has the job to lose, even though the Browns don't say it. Weeden indeed was superb in rookie camp. One Browns football man told me, "He wasn't just accurate, he was ridiculously accurate. And his arm is strong." They had him under center more than 90 percent of the time. He had "zero" problems making the adjustment from the shotgun, which he used at Oklahoma State most of the time.

I don't follow the Browns too closely but here's my question(s). Since this was rookie camp, how many rookie QBs do they have? If Weeden can't wow them at rookie camp that'd be a problem. Also, related to my first question, he was under center more than 90% of the time. Assuming he's the only QB, 100% is more than 90%, so never mind.

It's the fuzzy math 90% =100%. I think they might as well let Colt go because it seems they have already made their minds up.

Morning LSN!!!

Yep, I think McCoy would do well somewhere else. I don't think they've ever given him the opportunity to develop; really, that's been the case for a lot of QBs there. Derek Anderson had one good season that got him a big payday and then nothing. Quinn never had a chance and hasn't developed into anything but a clipboard carrier.

Browns wowed by Weedens work. Say that three times real fast.

I liked the "Browns Wowed". Brought me back to "How Now Brown Cow." In Denver, it would have been "Oh no, Tebow a Bronco No Mo"

Weeden wears won, I mean, one, damn

So now they throw Weeden to the wolves and he'll be useless in 2 seasons. They just don't want to develop QB's there some reason.

Nope, you're okay because it's the sound; not necessarily the letter.

It's one thing to be accurate in rookie camp. It's another thing to be accurate when members of the Pittsburgh Steelers or Baltimore Ravens defense are running at you.

You have to have stability at the top. They've gone through almost as many coaching changes as they have QBs over the past decade. At Weeden's "advanced age, he won't have too many other opportunities if he doesn't pan out.

Forgot about Charlie Frye, He was the second coming of Christ, played one game and got shipped to Seattle. thats when Anderson had his big year.

Ah yes. Can't believe I forgot Charlie. Anderson's big year got him to the ProBowl, a big contract, and then ...fail. He was Kolb in Arizona before Kolb got there.

Was he superb by NFL standards or superb by Browns standards?

Cause there's a difference.

good luck to the Browns and Weeden...

How about if I say that the Browns are going to suck this year just once instead?
