08:18 AM ET 05.21 | It appears the banners will remain mothballed in Ann Arbor, a decade after the Ed Martin booster scandal. According to the NCAA sanctions handed out a decade earlier, the U-M athletic department will no longer be banned from associating with and recognizing the four players implicated in the case. But for those who believe the sanctioned players -- who participated in the largest cash scandal in NCAA history -- will be welcomed back, and their vacated years and banners will be restored, think again. The Free Press looked at the 11 schools forced to remove Final Four banners due to violations, and most have continued to comply with the sanctions. Most do not hang banners from or recognize vacated seasons.

Only way they'll ever hang a banner, is to hang this one in shame!

Hippy -- It may not be an issue to you, but you're in the vast minority. Are you someone of significance who can decree this a non issue?
Chris Webber caused Michigan great shame and millions of dollars. He doesn't want to compensate the university for its monetary losses but wants them to honor him and ignore the shame he caused the school.

Everyone on FN is someone of significance and can decree anything. (At least in our own minds.) Facts be damned. Only rumors and innuendo accepted here.
Good observation though.

That's right.
I think all FN regulars will be on the on Plus1 selection committee in 2014 because of our impeccable resolution capabilities

GOOD IDEA. Do not recognize them; do not recognize the banners or seasons. They were responsible for their actions and it cannot be seen as acceptable. Tough love....but how else do you teach the younger generation that some things cannot be tolerated....like ethics and the truth?

Sadly, truth and honesty aren't respected here, on FN. This is a playground for those who wish to indulge the absolute worst elements of their character in unaccountable anonimity. I don't think this is what FN's founders had in mind. Naively, they envisioned an online environment where sports fans could converse, network, and form communities which could manifest face-to-face at some point. If this ever happens, it's because a handful of individuals who come here honestly make an effort that goes outside of FN. One wades through the cess pool to find those rare, valuable persons and experiences that give some value to the time spent here.

Oh, I DO remember the irrigation system around Las Cruces. I do not envy you the clean up job. If the irrigation schedule allows, start at dawn/sunup - It get's hot early and the sun is hard on you.
Of course, if I were there, and the lure of cold beer and grilled food were in the offing, I'd get dirty with you so that we both might sooner enjoy the rewards afterwards.

Look, I remember the "Fab Five" very well. They were a bunch of bullies... the Miami Heat remind me of them. What most people don't know is that those teams didn't WIN anything! Neither of two years they were all together (1991-92 & 1992-93) did they win the B1G Championship! OSU and Indy won those years. I don't know what banners they took down other then the final 4 which is not any kind of championship. Looking at interviews afterwards, those guys are not even sorry for taking the huge sums of cash, they felt like they deserved the money. I agree with the UM people, those guys are best forgotten.
