08:26 AM ET 05.21 | What a difference a decade makes. Oklahoma State is not considered one of the at-risk schools in any type of conference realignment or restructuring in the Bowl Championship Series. That would not have been the case a decade ago. OSU's massive facilities upgrades, including the luxurious renovation of Boone Pickens Stadium, have gone hand-in-hand with upgraded on-the-field results. "There's a lot that goes into what has happened for us in football," said Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis. ... "That's why Mike Holder and Boone Pickens deserve so much credit. Mike knew the importance of a high-level football program and what that could mean to this university. Boone Pickens understood what his contributions could do to help us make that transition."

Ahh, the hobbies and pasttimes of the Billionaire Boys' Club. "Think I'll buy me a football team..."

Some of those other bottom feeders need to find them a billionaire alumni willing to fund them like Oregon and Okie Lite did.

Buying a football team is like buying a boat... they're BOTH a bottomless moneypits. But I guess if one has THAT much moolah then, go right ahead!! heh heh

LOL...old guy around here used to raise and run race horses. Told me once you need two fortunes to get into the horse racing business. One to fall back on after you blew the first one in horse racing.

But he had two fortunes...lots and lots and lots and lots of oil wells with mineral rights on those horse ranches he owned.

What is the name of the stadium at Okie Lite?

May 21, 2012  12:53 PM ET

When your stadium is named after someone who never served on the faculty, and never set foot on the field as a player or coach, there's not a lot of mystery as to who the money man is.
