Pac 10 losses upset USC fans

It's two games into the Pacific 10 Conference schedule, not the end of the college basketball world. But you might think otherwise scanning Internet message boards, where some antsy USC fans are worried about an 0-2 conference start that has dropped the Trojans out of the Associated Press rankings and "off the board" of at least one noted NCAA tournament bracket prognosticator. The Trojans are too inconsistent, the fans grumble. Star freshman O.J. Mayo takes too many shots, others complain. Also worrisome are chemistry issues that surfaced during a team meeting Sunday in which players talked about being unselfish. USC ranks ninth in the Pac-10 in assists and last in assist-to-turnover ratio.

It's Not!

OJ Mayo is the type to take a lot of shots, ill-advised or not. When they're falling (not that often) it's great. If not, it looks bad for the team.

There's always next year. We have a lot of young guys and we need more team work which comes with experience.

Don't look forward to next year yet, Jabril. The season is a long one and all you need to do is be good enough to be selected to get in the tournament. USC has talent, they just have to get on the same page.

0-2?!?!?! It's panic time! Pull the alarm! firetimfloyd.com

We will get out of this slump, it is just that the PAC 10 is the best conference in the nation. I do think though, that OJ needs to distribute a little more.

So USC fans...how's Tim Floyd workin' out for you?

Hold the mayo.....

I went to the games up in the Bay last week. I thought it was more a lack of intensity/ effort that led to the 0-2 start. They'll gel by the time the Pac-10 tourney rolls around.

Tim Floyd is great actually....we still lost our two best underclassman to the NBA and we are probably the youngest team in the country with 3 sohpmores and 2 freshman starting.....it will come around

USC is too talented to do this all season. The Trojans will bounce back.

Gotta give props to my fellow Brooklynite Taj Gibson. I don't know what a Brooklyn boy is doing out in L.A., but do ya thing Taj.

Mayo will be looking at USC through the rear view mirror next year if some mentally challenged NBA general manager/owner coughs up enough benjamins...

Mayo fits SC perfectly...Another self-centered, overrated sack in the same breath as Leinart, Bush, and Mark Sanchez. I wish nothing but the worst on the dirtiest program(s) in America,,,

Seriously, anyone who DIDN'T know Mayo was going to be a ballhog is an idiot. Have fun with that schmuck. He'll use USC to "market" himself right off the draft board.

If fans are starting to complain about this and dat how about you USC "fans" come and play against some of the teams USC has to play against. They are in one of the toughest conferences and I think the fans don't understand that. Yes, Mayo takes too many shots but who else can take those shots? I mean Mayo is trying his best to pass around the ball but if you watch some of USC games, its really hard to pass around with great defense. Washingston State dominated USC but Mayo wasn't the "star" of the game for USC. Taj Gibson was playing his best out there and you gotta give credit to him. One reason why I think Mayo is getting most of the blame is becuz coming into this season, USC was expecting him to be a playmaker for them but USC doesn't have really any good players. I don't want to be mean but the coaching staff isn't that great either. There were times when USC could have won some games but the "coach" didn't do his job to "tell" his players that every possesion is very crucial. I hope the best for USC but I still have hope for this team.

Smell ya laterz!

I'm a Bruin and even I have to admit that the University of Spoiled Children has a very good basketball team. Guess what, so does Washington and what do they have in common? They're both near the cellar of the Pac-10. The reality is that the Pac-10 is a very good conference. Coach Ben predicts the regular season champ will have 4 or 5 losses. This season will be determined by the team(s) that manage to sweep or split at home and steal one or two on the road. At the end of the day I think we'll only see four Pac-10 teams with sexy, instant tournament teams and three more bubble teams with a likely Pac-10 vs Pac-10 title game in the NIT. Seriously, it's not that $C is that bad - it's just that the Pac-10 is that good. Heck, Oregon State would probably be a contender in the WAC but likely just a stumbling block within conference this year. It's going to be a brutal fight to the finish.
