08:08 AM ET 05.22 | It would seem Colt McCoy's chances decrease by the day of starting in Week 1. With Browns quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and [McCoy] set to square off for the first time today in organized team activities, Browns General Manager Tom Heckert clarified the exact nature of the quarterback competition. "The best guy is going to play, and we fully expect Brandon to be that guy," Heckert told a small group of reporters. ... "That's our goal, is to have him be the guy. You can write about it and talk about it however you want. But I think when we say 'open competition,' the best guy is going to play. That's the way it is, but we drafted Brandon Weeden to be that guy.

Leave it to the Browns to screw up an 'open competition'.

Yep... the guy that will be running for his life with no receivers to throw to downfield because the stupid GM didn't get him some weapons...

This "open competition" sounds more like a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Weeden will be 29 this October. Might just as well throw him to the Dogs. They have enough of McCoy to know he does not have a ceiling, only a crawl space.

Who would have thought the Browns would be such a compelling story this offseason?
Based on the way this is shaping up, the league better keep an eye on illegal hits on McCoy during the OTA's and camps. And practices. And position drills. And meals. And in the parking lot.

When Weedens first contract's up he will be passed his prime so you might as well try to salvage a few years out of him.

Maybe they will go the Colts route. Go in the tank for a season and draft a QB in the first round in 2013.

McCoy just isn't the guy! Granted, Cleveland hasn't put any offensive weapons (receivers) for him to utilize, but having a noodle arm doesn't help.

1 QB Named "McCoy" + 1 QB Named "Weeden" = another losing season in Cleveland.
