Rangers consider adding Oswalt

08:17 AM ET 05.22 | Admitting "everything is on the table," Rangers GM Jon Daniels said the club will consider signing pitcher Roy Oswalt. Right now Scott Feldman will start on Wednesday and is considered to be the leading candidate to replace [Neftali Feliz]. Alexi Ogando is also a candidate but is not stretched out like Feldman. The Rangers aren't ready to promote either Martin Perez or Neil Ramirez from Triple A. The Rangers watched Oswalt throw last week. They also know he needs more time and would not be ready to immediately step into the rotation. But he could add depth in case the Rangers have another rotation injury down the road. Feliz will likely be out through the All-Star break. He is not going to throw for at least four weeks and maybe longer.

I suppose you have to consider it... but if they do sign Oswalt, that seems to mean that Feliz is done for the season... or banished back to the bullpen.

Which means they failed with Feliz.

The great demi-god Nolan Ryan failed?

How is Nolan Ryan a failure? He puts a great team on the field that has made it to 2 World Series in a row.

If he's done at least up to the all-star break, he may go back to the bullpen when he comes back.

......my sources tell me ryan and oswalt have been waiting for this opportunity and now it has arrived.....oswalt will help solidify the young ranger sp......he will start out in feldmans spot as long man.....may take a turn from each of the young sp....and then take one of the spots, not necessarily feldman's....with this signing, rangers remain very deep in sp....

If Oswalt signs with anyone, it will be as a starter. I doubt he'd consider any reliever role

Ir doesn;t say much for your farm system when you have to look at Oswalt who nobody wanted in the spring because of his age and money demands.

......farms are not used by elite teams in the same way as they are for other teams.....feliz injury is not that bad....he will be back stronger than ever......but gives oswalt and ryan a chance to execute the plan......
