08:24 AM ET 05.22 | The SEC's spring meetings have more than enough topics to cover, and now reportedly include the launch of a network. The SEC is weeks away from restructuring its media rights deal with its current partners, CBS and ESPN, according to several industry sources, and in addition to talks about increasing rights fees, the conversations have also included more talk about a conference channel that could be ready for launch in time for the 2014 football season. ... The 14-team conference has been negotiating with both networks this year after the SEC expanded with Texas A&M and Missouri. That triggered a clause in the SEC's deal that allows the league to go back to the negotiating table with its partners.

Any sporting event that doesn't involved ESPN is fine by me. Growing up I watched ESPN 24/7 and then about 10-15 years ago they changed their whole focus and now is just a network of loudmouths. Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, Steven A Smith to name a few, but I could go on and on. Their studio shows are unwatchable these days as they care more about yelling and screaming rather then just talking sports. I think the way of the future is more targeted networks like SEC and Big 10 Networks for College, and MLB, NBA, NHL and NFL Networks for the Pros, along with regional sports networks for your hometown teams. ESPN studio shows are pretty much useless for any real sports fan with so many options today.

Would be nice if they would show someone other than Coach Drinkel. Maybe a coach that has won something. He couldn't even win the Big 12 for goodness sake.

From the files of "It's All Texas' Fault" - Susan Binford, assistant dean for communications for the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at UTx Austin issued a red-faced apology for the egregious typo appearing on the programs distributed for the 2012 commencement - "Lyndon B. Johnson School of Pubic Affairs." New programs are being issued to students.

Rumor? Or truth? There is talk that "It's All Texas' Fault" may expand from a cross-platforms media sensation to a 24/7/365 stand-alone Web channel with accompanying mobile app. Negotiations for distribution via standard television delivery are purpotedly in the works, with early feelers to Uverse receiving luke warm consideration for the West and Northeast regions.

Meanwhile the ACC decided that a network was not necessary. So they gave their 3rd tier rights up for less money than anyone else's 1st and 2nd tier right.
