08:25 AM ET 05.22 | Add Lane Kiffin's to the list of careers that have benefitted from a move to Los Angeles. This will be Kiffin's ninth season at USC, his third season as its head coach. He has reached a comfort level. He is driven, but not overwhelmed anymore. ... Kiffin is smarter, more aware. He's not accusing opposing coaches of breaking NCAA rules when they haven't (Urban Meyer, February 2009). He isn't popping off without an actual reason. "There has absolutely been a maturation of Lane Kiffin and that will continue," says USC AD Pat Haden. "I expect him to be a different person five years from now as a coach than how he is now. He's already come a long way as a head coach and I anticipate more growth going forward."

Ha!

I think we all thought Haden would have him (and others) on a short leash...and may have tied his tongue too.

Sounds like there might be a contract extension on the horizon with that kind of talk.

Sure, why not? If John Calipari can go three years without vacating a title or getting the program put on probation, then anyone can clean up his act.

QUOTE(#4):

LK is better than most give him credit for... Coaching/recruit at SC is a lot easier than at UTk

Playcalling is a bit suspect (see end of Stanford game last year) but he does everything else well apparently.

Yea he matured at USC......he even can grow a few whiskers now.

May 22, 2012  09:30 AM ET

Of course he's matured, he's three years older, but he's still a punk!

Baby Kif is doing a better job than I would have guessed at USC.

Yep! LK is gonna be just fine here (to the chagrin of MANY people out there).

May you choke on the garnish in your cocktail and suffer the indignity of being saved from asphyxiation by a UTK alumnus.

I love UTK....nothin' better for a slumping baseball team than a 3-game series at UTK!~!

BTW, congrats, LUS on the crown......you guys really played well down the stretch. Would LOVE to see LUS and Arky in Omaha together again....you guys will make it...we'll see @ Arky

QUOTE(#17):

I hope we make it.. not sure if we gonna win the SEC T or not..But we should be in line to host Regional and Super Regional.. like our chances w/ the pitching we have

Not sure u want to win SEC T.....you don't need it to host regiponal or super. Rest that pitching staff and run at the big tourney.

I said LUS had the best team/chance to get to Omaha from the SEC way back when you guys were in 4th place.....best team I watched this year. Way to finish strong and make me look smart.

He had a good year last year and has been quiet during the offseason... all good signs. Kiffin has benefited from having Haden as his AD and looks like he is on the way to getting USC back to the top of the PAC-12 over a continuously overrated Oregon team. I look for the Trojans to be back in the hunt for the NC this year.
