08:06 AM ET 05.23 | Perhaps a quarterback not named Matt Moore will have an opportunity to run the Dolphins offense. [Miami's first day] of organized training activities provided the first chance to watch the quarterback competition between Matt Moore, David Garrard and Ryan Tannehill. Soon after practice, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin was asked about comments recently made by owner Steve Ross, who speculated Moore would likely be the starter Sept. 9. ... "Look, last time I checked, he is on board. I told him and we have been very upfront with him, we want a competitive situation at that position as well as the other positions," Philbin said. "These guys work hard; they deserve the opportunity to compete for a job on this team, a starting position on this team."

Hello last place in the AFC East...

This must be the scoop follow-up to yesterday's story about the owner tipping his hand.

I'm thinking Marino is going to come out of retirement for one more run.

Quite a QB race, I'm sure we will all be on the edge of our seats watching it

Today's Marino would give Moore and Garrard a run for their money.

Riveted, the world watches every detail in stunned silence.

Open competition in Miami means "who sucks the least." I can't see either of these guys taking it away from Moore, and that's really not saying a whole lot.

Wasn't this yesterday's thread?

My wife could get a job there. She isn't sucking enough.

Poor Dolphin fans. You are quickly becoming the east coast version of the Oakland Raiders.

No mention of the Dolphins GM lately... how much more rope does he get to hang himself with?

I love the pic of Garrard in the Pro-Bowl. Did Brady, Manning, Rivers, and Big Ben all bow out that year?

I think they will tie the Jests for last place.

Regis does ads for TD Bank. And TDs are what football is all about.

Don't forget the Bills. They haven't done much to spice up their offense.

Tebow might be good for an extra win... I'll give them 3rd.

The Dolphins will be swimming with the other fishes.

the Dolphins have a lot more problems than just Quarterback- this is just the most interesting one going right now! I suspect that Tannehill will get a much more than fair shot at the position- too bad, because there are or should be a couple of class act quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart. Win or lose the kid should be carrying a clipboard for at least a season or two...
