08:08 AM ET 05.23 | Junior Seau's death left NFL players pondering whether they would want their sons playing football. [ Kurt Warner's admission that he would prefer his sons not play] was met with rebuke by ex-New York Giants receiver Amani Toomer and former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and ESPN analyst Merril Hoge, not to mention numerous fans. Shortly thereafter, I got a call from a father who spoke passionately in Warner's defense. It turned out this football dad had prohibited his only son from playing the sport until high school and, two decades later, isn't sure he'd allow him to play at all if confronted with the same decision today. "No, not without hesitation," Tom Brady Sr. said. "I would be very hesitant to let him play."

Tom Brady Sr. said. "I would be very hesitant to let him play. But since he's making major coin now, I guess it worked out alright."

Plus, I doubt Tom would've met Gieselle if he was a car salesman.

I'm not sure "concussion fad" is the right choice of words here. Former players are dying man, at an alarming rate at that. It's tough to dismiss it as a fad.

A history lesson is in order:
"
Theodore Roosevelt had thoughts of banning the game due to the number of deaths that occurred due to the violent nature of the game in the early 1900s"

Concussions happen in hockey too, you know?

The NFL hadn't been created then, the cry was on to ban college football due to the number of deaths in the game. There were a lot more than 3-4 teams and yes they wore helmets and pads of a fashion. Hey all sports were more dangerous then, hell life was more dangerous then. However it is totally valid to point out that the talk of football needing to be made safer is not a new thing.

You're right about life being more dangerous but people were a whole lot tougher too. Just going back 2-3 decades, we didn't think twice about going across town to play with friends. Now, you worry about your kid heading down the block.
