08:15 AM ET 05.23 | Yes, Vladimir Guerrero is nearing 40 and he didn't find MLB employment until Toronto recently gave him another shot to play in Canada. But it's worthwhile to quickly review what the Blue Jays have in Vladimir Guerrero as he attempts to get himself ready for a return to the major leagues. In 16 seasons, Guerrero stands 35th on the all-time OPS list at .931, three points ahead of Hank Aaron, 10 points behind Willie Mays. He is 35th on the all-time home run list, 11 ahead of Andre Dawson. ... Guerrero is hoping he still has three or four more years to solidify those credentials, especially the one that has him just 51 homers short of the magical 500 mark. "My goal is those 51 home runs that will get me to 500," he said.

Vlad could be a good part-time DH, especially in that park.

I don't think he's going to be around in MLB long enough to get those 51 dingers. It's not like those 51 are going to change his career.

dude, play for the league minimum in an AL as a DH. Pick a team with a hitters park.

He never struck me as a juicer -- had that long, lean body type with a big swing...could be wrong but never took a jump in body type or home runs like classic patterns of Bonds, Palmeiro, Brett Boone, Bagwell, Caminiti, Gibbons, etc. When a guy looks normal and then comes back the next season looking like an action figure, usually a good sign something's up...or when he averages 14 home runs his first six seasons then jumps to 35 for a few years...as Dykstra said, great vitamins.

Gibbons? As in Jay Gibbons? Where does he fit with that group? He was implicated and subsequently suspended, but short of being outed by Jason Grimsley, he did little to merit suspicion, with either his bat or his build.
