08:16 AM ET 05.23 | What a difference a month makes in the case of Bobby Abreu, who was looking for work three weeks ago. He could be the Dodgers' leadoff hitter next week. Shortstop Dee Gordon returned to the starting lineup Tuesday after a three-day benching. He batted eighth, the first time this season he had not led off. Tony Gwynn Jr. has been leading off, but Matt Kemp is expected to reclaim center field from him next week. Kemp (hamstring) is tentatively scheduled to play for triple-A Albuquerque Sunday and Monday, then rejoin the Dodgers on Tuesday. Manager Don Mattingly said the Dodgers would give Kemp an extra day or two if needed. "When everybody gets back into the lineup, I'm going to need a leadoff guy," Mattingly said. Mattingly said Abreu would be an option.

It's a little early in the season to hand him the NL manager of the year, but he definitely is the top choice at this time.

I agree Mills is a good manager, but have you been paying attention to the job Mattingly has been doing, with all the key Dodgers out due to injuries??

....dodger skipper deserves honor as well, but i think the stros have far less quality mlb talent on the team and on the farm than the dodgers....

I agree and we still have a long way to go. We will just have to wait and see what happens. :-)

Everyone wants to toss the award to LA skipper but now my vote would go to Johnson of the Nats worst last season to first this season.

I agree, I'm sure he will be in the mix when the season is over.

Dude, the Nationals won 80 games last season, without Strasburg. This winter they added Edwin Jackson and Gio Gonzalez.
