08:28 AM ET 05.23 | Given that Tomas Vokoun is likely a goner, it would seem 22-year-old Braden Holtby and 24-year-old Michal Neuvirth are set to share net duties in 2012-13. Both Holtby and Neuvirth -- who are under contract for the 2012-13 season at the bargain rate of a $1.75 million combined salary cap hit and combined salary of $1,787,777 -- said they will be prepared for a competitive situation next year. ... Said Neuvirth: "You've got 82 games and anything can happen. Look at Holtsy, you know. He was in Hershey whole time and now he was starting goalie for us. So you never know. Gonna go home, work hard and be ready for training camp. I know I can be the number one in this league. That's my goal. I will do whatever it takes to be the man."

good problem to have... 2 respectable goalies, both young, small cap hits

If that's truly Neuvirth's attitude it's a very good one. I've always liked him but he's had a problem with nagging injuries. Hope he get's back in the mix very soon. With an 82 game season you have to have 2 very good goalies to be able to compete at the highest level.

Kid's gonna have to work darn herd because Holtby leap-frogged him. It's definitely a good problem to have.

Thus making life very difficult for the zamboni driver.

True....but if he does happen to make it back to form that would be a nice tandem in nets

Didn't we say the same thing about Philly at the start of the season?

Good attitude by Neuvy though. Work hard, come out ready and may the best man win.

Of course, a lot of Holtby's success came from the Caps buying into Hunter's defense first mentality and all the shot blocking that went with it. Wonder how things would be if they stuck with their focus on offense. So much for the Caps will depend on who they hire as their coach and what system he puts in place.

Um, no. Bryz is not as young as Bob and it's near impossible to say his cap hit is respectable.

Oh, yea, but he was good enough to beat the Pens.

I was referring to the fact that we all thought the Flyers had two good goalies going into this year. Bryz finally put a good run together at the end, but they were shaky at best through a good portion of the season.

The Phantoms could have beaten the Pens the way they played that series.

Not bragging. Just being nit-picky.
