Shaq a L-O-N-G way from Magic job

08:08 AM ET 05.24 | According to a report Wednesday night, the Magic will meet with Shaquille O'Neal to discuss the open GM job. Shaq has been lobbying behind the scenes to be considered for the position, and the Magic ... are willing to at least sit down with the 40-year-old and give him the courtesy of hearing what he has to say. That's a long way from actually hiring Shaq. A L-O-N-G way, to borrow from Larry Bird's spelling technique, from letting Shaq come back to a franchise he leveled as a free agent to be the guy who either convinces Dwight Howard to finally commit to the Magic long-term (after feuding with Dwight for years) or immediately takes on the monster responsibility of trying to find a sensible trade for Howard before next season (as rookie GM).

Dr. Oneal trying to be a GM...? What happened to the Adonal Foyle rumors as the next GM? As far as being a GM Steve Kerr was given a chance and now is back on the sidelines. I am not trying to diminish a GM's job but all the rules and requirements are all known for trading players and managing the cap. How good is Shaq at evaluating talent who knows. I doubt Shaq gets considerable attention but it sounds like he is making a pitch on why he should or could be GM.

Shaq............Have you people truly listened to Shaq on TNT? A Doctorate in Education is what the world was told he possesses. Well....................is all I have to say on that particular subject.
GM for the Magic?...........Please tell me that this organizaion is not truly entertaining this. I Know the people of the great state of Alabama didn't (with good reason) ever truly entertain the idea of One Charles Barkley political career (Gov.) and good for them.
