Honeymoon finally over at Wrigley

08:16 AM ET 05.24 | Turning the Cubs ship around in Chicago is proving a more difficult task than many had hoped. It's early, obviously, but the Cubs are on pace for their worst record in their 137-year history. And based on the clusters of empty seats during their weekend series against the White Sox -- and $14 ticket prices that could be found online -- their run of eight consecutive seasons of drawing at least 3 million fans might be in jeopardy. ... Attendance is still the primary revenue-driving force for teams, and no amount of increased noodle revenue will offset a long decline in ticket-buying. Whether the so-called honeymoon is over with an easily irked fan base isn't nearly as relevant as how long the overhaul will last.

They need to hire obama after he is voted out of office. As GM so he could run the CUBIES deeper into the gutter like he drove the US into the gutter.

Last year they were out of it by the fourth. This year looks like the same old story wait until next year. Cub fans can blame Henry for the dumb signings and trades that will probably put them back another 10 years.

So, Theo has been there about six/seven months and hasn't won a pennant yet, what's the matter with that slacker?
This is a long-term project, they don't have much in the minors to build with, and the team on the field is not full of interesting trade prospects.
They will have to build through the draft, and that takes time, and money. The new owners realize that or they wouldn't have hired Epstein.
Look at the Nats, they built through the draft and fielded some horrible teams in the process, but their minor league talent and some astute trades are beginning to pay off. How many years did that take?
Let's revisit this issue in about four years, see where they are then.

I still don't think fans of the 'North-Side Yuppie Scum' are smart enough to avoid going to see a turkey product.

Word that...
Plus, if a Ticket is found Online for $14, it's already paid for... And that's all the Cubbies care about.
Lastly... When exactly did the Honeymoon start?

Big Cubs fan here....They'll never win a championship unless one of two things happen:
1. They get a new stadium where they can play as many night games as everyone else
or
2. The people who live around the stadium (the same ppl who post signs about how long it's been since the Cubs won) stop whining about the lights and allow the team to play as many night games as everyone else
When a team plays at 8 pm in the final game of a road series, gets back home at 1 am and then has to be back at the park for a 1 pm start the next day, this is a huge disadvantage. Not to mention the road team gets priority for batting practice and I've read many Cubs say that they have to be at the park at 10 am just to get in some BP. The whole situation is ridiculous at Wrigley and the team wont win a thing until they remedy the problem
