Dolphins may be shopping for receivers

08:00 AM ET 05.25 | While letting free agents pass by and shipping Brandon Marshall away, the Dolphins are left without a proven, high-end wide receiver, something that, for now, doesn't keep Jeff Ireland up at night. "In this receiver group, somebody needs to rise to the top and I think they're going to," Ireland said. "As it stands now, we're going with a young group. Am I done yet? I don't know. Safety is like the receiver position. I'm looking for someone to separate himself. They're young, tough, have the makeup we're looking for. This is my favorite time of the year. Let all the competitions play out."

I'm sure this makes all their qb's happy. And why is Wade Phillips in this picture? Oh, it's from their Cowboys days...nice work FN. LMAO!

That's the last time Ireland was relevant. Unfortunately for him (Ireland), Wade's status has improved moving back to D Coord.

Doesn't bode well for the team. Ireland needs some urgency or they need to do with Marino what Denver did with Mr. Ed-way.

"This is my favorite time of the year. ".....Jeff Ireland

Tells you all you need to know. Once the games start it is not much fun at all.

Dolphins may be shopping for receivers

Why?

They don't have any QB's...

From the way things seem to be going in Miami, forget about things keeping him up late at night, I think the guy is taking long naps in the afternoon as well.

Seriously. Does this guy even have a pulse?

The mistake the Dolphins made in this personnel move was hiring the *wrong* Ireland. Kathy knows a lot more about running a business than Jeff. She's certainly been more successful and is much easier on the eyes.

Got that right, Colonel. And, with the celebrity ownership, she'd fit in as well. She does some fashion too so she could update the uniforms regularly like the Oregon Ducks.

With Bill Parcells pulling most of the strings, it was easier to see why anyone thought hiring Ireland had any upside.

Maybe it's time for Miami to be shopping for GMs, too.

Miami did make Marino the VP of Football Operations a few years ago. After a few weeks, he decided the job wasn't for him and he stepped down.

At least he figured it out sooner rather than later.

I do think I recall that. I would still rather see him doing something legitimate like that than making a fool of himself with Esiaison and Sharpe and Cowher on CBS(?).

After seeing the Lions get Millenized back to the stone age, I appreciate any former player recognizing that he's not cut out for that type of front office job.
