Perez rags on Tigers after sweep

08:09 AM ET 05.25 | Chris Perez, still in simmering waters for his comments about the Cleveland faithful, tweaked the Tigers on Thursday after a series sweep. "This is huge for the team," said [Perez], who saved all three games in the series. "We played good ball these last three games. I said when I made the comments that I was just going to go out and do the job. Luckily, I've been able to come through." Perez put the tying run on in the ninth, but got his 16th straight save since blowing one on opening day. "We don't have the star power," Perez said. "You look over there and they've got Cabrera and Fielder and Verlander and Valverde. That doesn't win baseball games. Good teams win baseball games."

While what he says is true, a collection of stars does not a team make, but it would have been more impressive if he would have stated it BEFORE the series.

His comments are accurate, but someone should also tell Perez his team tanked last season while the Tigers played great baseball down the stretch. Perez was big part of the Indians fade last season too, he blew three saves (all losses for team) after the all star break and had a mid 4 ERA.
