09:32 AM ET 05.26 | Trout, who hit .200 with five home runs, 16 runs batted in and 20 runs in 40 games with the Angels last season, was hitless in his first seven at-bats in late April. But entering Friday, he was hitting .341 (28 for 82) in May, the fourth-highest average in the league, and .312 on the season. Mike Trout has been touted as one of baseball's top three prospects for two years, and one scout even compared him to a young Mickey Mantle, so he's used to seeing his name connected with a fair number of superlatives. The leadoff batter had nine multi-hit games, four homers, six doubles, 12 RBIs and 17 runs, and his .377 on-base percentage has provided a much-needed jolt at the top of the order and more opportunities for No. 3 hitter Albert Pujols, who had 17 RBIs in 18 games before Friday. The Angels were 6-14 before Trout was promoted. Entering Friday night, they were 15-11 since.

They have Pujols and several other good hitters. They have maybe the best 1-2-3-4 punch in an MLB rotation. Yes, they have holes, but they are a good ballclub.

He's 32, and absolutely in his prime. Look for his hitting to continue. 11 seasons worth of numbers do not lie. Pujols will retire (as an Angel) as one of the best hitters of all time. Look for about 700 HRS (he has 451 at age 32) and a lifetime batting average of over .300 (currently .326). One of the best ever, he will revert to form and continue his HOF career.

addition by subtraction, whenever bobby abrue leaves, the team always gets better, i.e. phils, yanks. as soon as he left the phils, in his prime. the team went on to win 5 division championships in a row. not a coniscidence

There's Mickey Tettleton who was more of a power hitter than speed guy.
