09:08 AM ET 05.26 | Looks like those rumblings that Charlie Sheen was the big winner in the Lawrence Taylor Super Bowl ring sweepstakes were false. One morning after word surfaced that Sheen was the winner of last weekend's SCP Auction for Taylor's Super Bowl XXV ring, the troubled actor insisted that he had not made the purchase. "As much as I would be honored to own such an important artifact......I had nothing to do with the acquisition," Sheen said through rep Larry Solters. That refuted a report by FoxSports.com a day earlier. The report had been sent to Taylor's agent, Mark Lepselter, who later tweeted that "as far as I know," Sheen, an avid sports fan who already owns Babe Ruthe's 1927 World Series ring, was the winning bidder. But apparently, that wasn't true, and SCP Auctions declined to reveal the winner of the ring, which sold for more than $230,000 in an auction that ended on Saturday night.

Good call, Mick.

Why should the Sports division be any different than the "News" Division?

I keep hoping. I guess the closest thing to accuracy is the judges on American Idol and let's face it, JLo and Steven Tyler are just looking to get a Hawaiian greeting from the contestants and Randy thinks everyone is "in it to win it."

Easy now. CNN/SI, CBS Sports, ESPN and others aren't exactly burning it up in the accuracy department either.

It's an investment. Didn't you see what that card Charlie Sheen bought in the early 1990's brought at a recent auction?

May 26, 2012  05:38 PM ET

This is what counts as Sheen entertainment now? What he has not done?

May 26, 2012  06:02 PM ET

Would you remember if you did, Charlie?
