Lakers system limited Gasol

09:23 AM ET 05.26 | Insecure with his personnel, Lakes Coach Mike Brown leaned on Kobe Bryant to carry most of the offense at the beginning of the season. Eager to show how much he improved in his post game, Andrew Bynum continually scored around the rim and quickly ascended Pau Gasol in the offensive pecking order. Meanwhile, Gasol suddenly became the team's facilitator in the high post instead of operating inside. "It has been difficult at times to be a third option," Gasol said this week. "I've never experienced that in my career probably since I was very young. I still gave it my best and we'll see how it looks next year. But it has been challenging at times." Gasol revealed the Lakers hardly practiced other ways to utilize him, including pick-and-roll plays or sets with him on the elbows. According to Synergy Sports Technology, 28.5% of Gasol's shots came in the post, the most of any spot on the floor. But that often happened only when Bynum, Bryant and Metta World Peace weren't in the lineup. Brown leaned on Bryant to take 27.9% of his shots in isolation, particularly in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, the Lakers routinely looked impatient in penetrating off ball reversals and swing passes whenever teams, such as Denver and Oklahoma City, countered the Lakers' size.

This team is done.
Doesn't matter where he operates. Done is done. They were done last year, this year, and any years to come.
Until they trade Kobe or release him to free up all that money they are done.
The entire world knows they are not going to get rid of Kobe so they are done. But they need to because he can't guard on the perimeter anymore.
Not only can the Lakers not pry the ball from Kobe's hands, now he is hogging all the money too.
You can surround a lot of talent around Bynum with 30 million a year. Especially a backcourt that can actually guard people.

Kobe = the ultimate gunner (even beats out Melo), Mike Brown = confused & controlled by star player(s), Bynum = what else do you need to say (mad man & idiot), Gasol = stuck between a rock and hard place (otherwise sometimes soft), The Lakers = a complete mess and time for an overhaul, yet they're in massive denial. Lakers fans = stuck in a time warpe and refuse to accept that its over. SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!

If a nobody diva like Williams drove Sloan to the bottle, he'll surely kill someone once he gets a taste of Kobe. No way...Sloan wants no part of that, especially since once Kobe retires in 2-3 years he'll be left with Baby Huey at center and eleven nobodies filling out the roster.
