Parise refuses to raise Prince of Wales trophy

09:41 AM ET 05.26 | Zach Parise decided to stick with tradition. The Devils' captain had a choice to make -- whether to raise the Prince of Wales trophy awarded for winning the Eastern Conference or to avoid it. After much thought and polling, he abstained. The NHL tradition is to not touch the trophy out of superstition -- that the Stanley Cup is the only trophy that should hoisted. Parise did not know what he would do if given the opportunity. He decided not to talk about it before the game, but after the Devils had won the series he decided to quickly do a survey. While some Devils voted to do whatever he wanted, most said no. So Parise chose no and settled just for a team photo with it.

Sorry, Rags fans. A gallant effort but, even with King Henrik's heroics it wasn't enough. I think your team shot its wad against the Caps and, in the end, didn't have enough left in the tank to get it done.
