Caring? No....anything else on today?

Seems a little low in these days, but no one ever said Paterno wanted to gouge PSU on salary issues. Or maybe he just had a bad agent?

Not much for a long time coach with his career.

Only because Saban, Brown, Stoops, Meyer et al earn ridiculous salaries. It's a shame that most college head football coaches out-earn the highest paid professors on staff ... like the Dean of the College of Medicine, or the Dean of the College of Engineering, etc. (IF the school even HAS a College of Medicine).

"Who cares?" neck of the woods.

Coach Saban's salary pays for itself. Before he got to Alabama, there wasn't even a waiting list for season tickets. Now, there's a 10 year waiting list.

I hear what you're saying JK and yes football teams bring in lots of $$ for the schools but ... the deans of the respective colleges are responsible for securing state and federal research $$ ... which helps this country advance the state-of-the-art especially in technical fields. IMO we shouldn't be paying our football coaches 5X more than our deans. Their value, beyond $$, is not of the same consequence.

I like the arrangement at SMU ... Jones' salary is paid 100% by the athletic boosters ... but it's still overpriced and sends the wrong message.
