08:51 AM ET 05.27 | Before Friday, Texas had handed out 24 scholarship offers to Class of 2013 prospects. 14 had been accepted in the form of a verbal commitment. The other 10 players to receive offers from Texas were still considering that offer. That was, until DeSoto running back Dontre Wilson pledged to play for Oregon. The 5-foot-10, 176-pounder chose the Ducks over Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Clemson, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rice, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and the Longhorns. Wilson ran for 767 yards on 127 carries while catching 12 passes for 46 yards, scoring 20 total touchdowns (15 rush, 5 rec). As it stands now, the Longhorns will not be without a running back in next year's recruiting class. Texas signed the nation's top high school tailback each of the last two years in Cibolo Steele star Malcolm Brown and National Gatorade Player of the Year, Aledo's Johnathan Gray. Arlington Martin running back Kyle Hicks, who rushed for 1,685 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior, committed to Texas in February. With the emergence of Joe Bergeron as a freshman last season, along with the signing of Pflugerville Hendrickson's Daje Johnson -- a former TCU commit -- it's no surprise that Wilson didn't pledge to play for Texas. The 'Horns will have a crowded backfield in 2012, even with senior D.J. Monroe moving from running back to wide receiver, a position that Johnson can play as well.

5'-10" 176 lbs. I'm not too disappointed that he's not coming to Austin.

This weight and height should not be an excuse, hell he should have no problem putting 15/20 lbs on his frame, now the height might be a concern, but LaMichael was what 5'8"??

Hasn't that been Oregon's offensive thinking the last few years, "to get the ball to players in space"??
