Relatives of Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez have been harassed and threatened in the three weeks since his resignation from West Virginia. His mother, Arleen Rodriguez, told the Charleston Daily Mail her teenage grandson received a death threat and found other harassing notes taped to his locker at East Fairmont High School.

Mallett transferred. Why isn't that a topic of discussion? Now we either got to pray to land Pryor or hope that Steven Threet was a good pickup as a transfer from Georgia Tech.

Hey WVU Fans,

3 things you don't have and winning a football won't get you:
1. Integrity
2. Respect
3. Class

football game*

January 10, 2008  09:09 AM ET

This news is so old!!! Almost older than the news of the Coach Stewart 'Racial Slur Incident".... For once, I wish WVU, it's head coach and Ex coach would stay out of the news.
Why don't they concentrate on WVU's Basketball Team's 11-3 record and the game tonight at Louisville??

January 10, 2008  09:10 AM ET

biminator, Ha!! Michigan lost all 3 of those the very first game of the season!!!

January 10, 2008  09:11 AM ET

Hey, Michigan's not the school having problems moving on...

January 10, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Moving on?? WV has moved on just fine.. The media are the ones who are stuck in nuetral.

January 10, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Yeah, because football is more important than life. Takin a job to better support your family and leave an unethical work environment is the same as threatening the lives of someones kids.

You're right. Football is more important than life. My bad. At UM, its the other way around still. Sorry that we don't think like you.

January 10, 2008  09:16 AM ET

J. Hova brought up an interesting point. Mallett has transfered and Rich accepted that based on the fact that he lands Pryor. For argument's sake, what if Pryor doesn't commit to Michigan?

January 10, 2008  09:17 AM ET

Now, you're putting words in my mouth. You know what they say about, 'Assuming'.... Makes an assofu.
I never once condoned what a few have done to this poor family and I agree it's uncalled for and unjust.
You don't know me and you definitely don't know my way of thinking, pal. Football ranks pretty low on my 'Needs' list but how would you know that??? You wouldn't because you assume you know me and what I'm about.. Take a look in the mirror and reevaluate yourself then get back to me.

January 10, 2008  09:19 AM ET

D. SLIQ, 'What if Pryor doesn't commit'?? UM is skrued <sp> i know.. SI will ***** it out if spelled correctly.

January 10, 2008  09:22 AM ET

I never blamed you, but you have to agree, the WVU has overreacted a bit. Move on...I agree media is making too big a deal out of this in general, but don't pretend like death threats are a normal non-worthy news story. Both sides need to just calm down. WVU should go forward with their new coach. I wish him nothing but the best of luck. He will probably be our next coach someday, afterall...

I agree, I think we have put all our eggs in the Pryor basket, it will be interesting if he doesn't land here now...

I do like the prospect of Carlos Brown in a Coach Rod offense, that kid is fast!

January 10, 2008  09:29 AM ET

Depth in the QB position is key even if he doesn't play the spread offense (Mallett) i am surprise that Rich let him get away that easy after what happened to WVU in the Pitt game.

January 10, 2008  09:29 AM ET

Hard to blame Rodriguez for taking a better job.

The schedule and timing of hiring/firing and games does not usually allow for these guys to leave in a completely honest and forthright manner.

Threatening and harrassing his family members is just beyond classless and trashy...even for the south.

Trust me I watched these redneck animals treat good men like Ron Zook and even sometimes Spurrier like ****. There is no pleaseing them.

Rodriguez did his time and now he has one of the best jobs in college football. How is that hard to understand?

January 10, 2008  09:30 AM ET

That's the thing.. The threats were made weeks ago and the media is still holding on to it.. WV wins the Fiesta Bowl and all dirt surfaces once again. WV and the fans that I know have moved pass the Coach Rodgigate and are totally behind Coach Stewart.
Death threats are a huge deal and if it were a family member of mine.. Well, let's just say the WV State Police would have already picked me up for confronting the individual(s).
BTW, how's that ex-WVU Basketball Coach Beilein working out for ya'll???
4-11 dead last in the Big 10?? Nice.

January 10, 2008  09:35 AM ET

WVU fans need to quit crying and move on. Coaches leave and new ones come in. Thats the name of the game so get over it.

January 10, 2008  09:38 AM ET

OJ makes a good point...

January 10, 2008  09:39 AM ET

Here's the best medicine of getting over it...
biminator, you say...
"3 things you don't have and winning a football won't get you:
1. Integrity
2. Respect
3. Class"

Watch this and I think you'll agree that WVU earned it all that one night.

Time to hit the gym.. nice debating with you biminator.. At least you kept the comments civil and weren't reduced to name-calling like a lot on this site.
You're respected.

I live in Michigan so i would defiantly have a different opinion than somebody from West Virginia... what would you like coaches to do when they are considering new jobs. resign in the middle of the year or as soon as you start the talk... if you come out and say i am going to coach some place else you have lost your locker room...as for harassing family members... come on they have nothing to do with any of it... i love sports and take them more seriously then most but it is only a game, only college football, only a coach...seriously death threats, come on Rich move your family to Ann Arbor or Oakland county in Michigan, there are homes for sale all over
