Aceves breaks unwritten rule in Boston

He must think he is better than the rest of the guys who have come before him. If you want to be the man stand up when you fail and not just when you win.

Not sure that Aceves is the answer. If so, Red Sox fans may not like the question.

At the very least, he could have left a Dear John (Axford) letter.

Those "unwritten rules" are as good as the paper they are written on!

Another BoSox pitching staff faux pas, or the media having a sulk? Looks a bit like the latter to my untrained eye.

Pretty sure everyone of those sports writers he didn't talk to after the game ..saw the game ...saw him blow the game...and can basically decipher what happened and report it....I don't see what the big deal is...what is Aceves gonna give them besides the usual cliches like.."I didn't get the job done"...."I didn't execute and make my pitch"..."Give the other team credit they hit good pitches"..."I hung a curve ball and paid the price"...yada..yada...yada......this is such a non story it isn't even funny....

I think teams need to limit media access anyway since they ask the same questions over and over day after day. It's not like this is the 1st time a player took off right after the game.

Now that he doesn't play for a NY team he is going to have to learn how to act like a man and answer a question or two when things don't go his way.

Remember, he can always pull the "I'm smarter than everybody card that the narcissist coach of the NY Rangers has used so often and pretend he is too smart for such nonsense. All he has to do is sit there with a dumb look on his face and pretend to be something he ain't.

He didn't behave this way until he moved up north...seems to be devolving.

Who wrote the "unwritten rules" anyway? I know it was not I.
s$@#w unwritten rules, No one wants to sign on as the author then I am free to ignore that rule when I please and so is Aceves.

That's kind of funny, considering it was the laid-back atmosphere that carried the Red Sox to the Championship in 2004. NY teams, ESPECIALLY the Yankees, have always been about professionalism. Aceves was probably glad to get out of town while he could still pitch so he wouldn't have to face the music time and time again.

I don't think Aceves ever saw himself in the closer's role when spring training started. I think for the most part he's handled it well.
