Rising power in the Big East

08:26 AM ET 05.28 | While the strength of the conference itself remains a concern, there are programs, such as Louisville's, with bright horizons. Charlie Strong has the Cardinals on the rise as he enters his third season, and there's no question that the program is becoming more marketable to a Big 12 that may eventually move back to 12 members -- or more. In the meantime, Strong continues to build a solid defense, a unit that will be helped by early-enrollee linebackers Keith Brown and James Burgess as well as a very good secondary. ... Offensively, Teddy Bridgewater will continue to mature and improve as a quarterback, and he is coming off of a strong spring. I leapfrogged the Cardinals over Rutgers after spring because of Bridgewater and expected improvement across the offensive line.

not so sure about LVille being more marketable. Everything I've seen suggests the media folks don't think that highly of them and would make the payouts per team lower in b12.

Don't see this happening at all.

Guido, how the hell did Mizzou win the Big 12 tourney? If I'm not mistaken, Mizzou was the only series the last place Red Faders won in the entire conference schedule! SMH

Me too. Seriously, Tech was down right awful (fired the coach) and they won their series with Mizzou!

Well, we sucked big time in the MWC tournament. Hope we still make the playoffs...and play to our capabilities! Go Frogs!

The one area we do agree is the season as a whole outlook :)

I was caught up in HS baseball and The Colonial this weekend. Dragons are in regional final and my alma mater lost final game to meet them there.

Don't overlook Charlie Strong, folks. He's not a big, in-your-face, I'm-a-MAN kinda guy, but he gets the job done.

Agreed. Which is why he won't be at L-Ville for long.

I see Charlie Strong having a bright future. As for the L-Ville football program? I don't see them ever becoming a Top 10-type program. IMO, Louisville is a lot like some other schools in that region (Duke, UK,) in that they are SO into basketball, they'll never have a top-flight football program, and for the most part, their fans seem to accept that.

QUOTE(#15):

WTH happened to TCU baseball.

Would like to know myself. Thursday night went out to eat and was watching the game at the restaurant...left around the 7th inning and TCU was up 14 - 4; got home for the 8th inning and suddenly San Diego scores about 9 runs and then goes ahead in the 9th. Fortunately the Frogs came thru in the 9th and won 16 - 15. San Diego was playing with a big chip, understandly, because they had no selections on the all MWC team. Then Friday the Frogs let New Mexico out play them sending them to the elimination game with San Diego but without Thursday's luck.

If they don't pick their game back up they won't be in the tournament for long but the Frogs do have some good pitching available. Funny thing, the MWC only had 5 teams playing this year and 3 are in the NCAA's.

No one still doesn't care much about Big East football except people who live in these communities. Big East basketball different story.
