Pirates open to 'impact' trade

08:27 AM ET 05.28 | Pittsburgh certainly has arms -- bats, however, are a different story. If ever a team should consider trading pitching for hitting -- similar to what the Mariners did in the Michael Pineda-for-Jesus Montero exchange -- it's the Pirates. "Offensively challenged" would be far too kind a description for the Pirates. ... Now, no one should advocate the Pirates trading righty Gerrit Cole or righty Jameson Taillon, their two top pitching prospects. But for a team desperate to improve -- and end its streak of 20 consecutive losing seasons -- pretty much everyone else should be in play. "We are open to an impact trade if it is the right deal," general manager Neal Huntington says, "not because we need offense."

THOUGHTS & PRAYERS FROM A GRATEFUL NATION..

''The American flag does not fly because the wind moves past it.. The American flag flies from the last breath of each, military member who has died protecting it.

Americans don't fight because they hate what's in front of them.. They fight because they love what's behind them.''

Why does Fox Sports get the poor folks in Pittsburgh all uppity about the Bucs...

And this year they're not even .500 at Memorial Day (and we all know it goes down hill from here)

FOX Sports should stick to what they know...

Oh... Hold On... Then they'd be out of work.

I would love to see Pittsburgh make a deal that actually helps the Pirates. I am long tired of seeing them deal prospects and players for **** journeymen and minor league dogs.

Who is worth tradeing for on the Pirates?

For the Pirates the defination of what qualifies as 'Impact" is pretty low to begin with....but I agree I'd have to see it too!!!!!

There one thing in the Bucs favor their old trading partner the Cubs don't have that much anyone wants. I would keep my prospects and keep on building.

They are probably going to trade Cutch and Alvarez for Soriano and 4 pitchers with a alarming 89 mph fastball and two other pitches. Then give us the whole it was a "no brainer" decision because we have to build through the farm system. Its sad, thats been the approach since bonds bounced.
