08:29 AM ET 05.28 | Mack Brown finally lost a recruiting battle this offseason as DeSoto running back Dontre Wilson announced Friday he'd be taking his talents to Oregon. The 5-10, 176-pound junior chose the Ducks over Texas, Ohio State, Texas A&M and several other Division I schools because he says their fast-paced offense gives him the best chance at reaching the NFL. "It's a business decision," Wilson said. "I just think that's the perfect offense for me." ... The entire DeSoto team gathered around Wilson near midfield at Eagles Stadium as he took the microphone and announced his decision. He then posed for photos with an Oregon jersey and wore a green Oregon cap on the sidelines for the remainder of the spring game.

Offensive fit is a good reason and fine...but not the best choice of words IMHO. Business decision? Lyles?

Don't blame the kid. When you play at this level, and the NFL is a definite possibility, you play where your strength is showcased....that would not be at TU since they will play more of a power game and not the speed game of an Oregon or OU.

IMO

UTx already has a back for 2013, along with the stable of fresh and sophs. He wouldn't have seen the field for 1-2 years and by then he expects to be in NFL.

Much better fit in duckland. Plus, he luvs the unis

This makes 6-7 starters that that have either left or kicked off. It might be a very long inaugural year in Ft. Worth

TCU Football Players Not Returning
Tanner Brock- Played in every game in 2009 as a freshman, started every game in 2010 and lead TCU in tackles. Was injured in first quarter of Baylor game in 2011. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Dismissed from TCU as part of a campus wide drug bust in early 2012.

Deryck Gildon- Appeared in every game of 2011 as a freshman, totaled 21 tackles. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Rumored to be lost for 2012 due to grades, this has NOT been confirmed but has been publicly alluded to.

Ty Horn- Played in eight games in 2010, ten games in 2011 including one start. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Dismissed from TCU as part of a campus wide drug bust in early 2012.

David Johnson***- Redshirted in 2010, played in 12 games in 2011 including nine starts. Totaled 28 tackles, seven for a loss and three sacks. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. DJ reportedly suffered an injury during spring practice that might have been serious enough to keep him out through 2012, no word on his current status.

Devin Johnson- Played in four games in 2009, did not play in 2010, played in all games in 2011. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Dismissed from TCU as part of a campus wide drug bust in early 2012.

Carter Wall***- Redshirted as a freshman in 2011, was likely going to be in the running to start as a freshman in 2012. Rumored to be lost for 2012 due to grades, this has not been confirmed.

Nykiren Wellington- Played in two games as a redshirt freshman, would likely have provided depth at the tackle position for TCU in 2012. Nykiren is transferring to Trinity Valley Community College.

Ed Wesley- Played in every game in 2009, 2010 and ten games in 2011. Totaled almost 2500 yards in his TCU career, 24 total touchdowns. Was a semi-finalist for the Doak Walker Award in 2010. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Left TCU for "family reasons" after spring 2012.

D.J. Yendrey- Played in every game in 2009 and 2010, started in 12 of 13 games of 2011, totaled three sacks and 5 1/2 for a loss. Would likely have been a starter on 2012 team. Dismissed from TCU as part of a campus wide drug bust in early 2012.

For those playing at home, that is seven likely starters and two more providing depth at a crucial position for TCU (offensive line). Enjoy your BBQ everybody!

You may be right about this, Guido. However, at least publicly, GP doesn't seem overly concerned about it and seems to like what he has left. Only thing unusual about this is that he's more typically reserved and guarded about what he thinks/says to the public and for whatever reason seems to still be very optimistic now. We'll find out in the fall...when they play the games. Go Frogs!

Could be. Preacher told me once that sometimes a church can't get any blessed additions until it has some blessed subtractions first!
