DeSoto's Wilson on spurning Texas: 'Business decision'

08:29 AM ET 05.28 | Mack Brown finally lost a recruiting battle this offseason as DeSoto running back Dontre Wilson announced Friday he'd be taking his talents to Oregon. The 5-10, 176-pound junior chose the Ducks over Texas, Ohio State, Texas A&M and several other Division I schools because he says their fast-paced offense gives him the best chance at reaching the NFL. "It's a business decision," Wilson said. "I just think that's the perfect offense for me." ... The entire DeSoto team gathered around Wilson near midfield at Eagles Stadium as he took the microphone and announced his decision. He then posed for photos with an Oregon jersey and wore a green Oregon cap on the sidelines for the remainder of the spring game.

Offensive fit is a good reason and fine...but not the best choice of words IMHO. Business decision? Lyles?

Don't blame the kid. When you play at this level, and the NFL is a definite possibility, you play where your strength is showcased....that would not be at TU since they will play more of a power game and not the speed game of an Oregon or OU.

UTx already has a back for 2013, along with the stable of fresh and sophs. He wouldn't have seen the field for 1-2 years and by then he expects to be in NFL.
Much better fit in duckland. Plus, he luvs the unis

You may be right about this, Guido. However, at least publicly, GP doesn't seem overly concerned about it and seems to like what he has left. Only thing unusual about this is that he's more typically reserved and guarded about what he thinks/says to the public and for whatever reason seems to still be very optimistic now. We'll find out in the fall...when they play the games. Go Frogs!
