08:30 AM ET 05.28 | The Big 12 may have painted itself into a tough corner. Seems the Pac-12 and Big Ten privately relished the announcement of the new SEC/Big 12 Champions Bowl, because it's possible that game could become the first game in a four-team playoff bracket, meaning the Big 12 would have given itself the kiss of death. Who in their right mind wants to open against the SEC's best team? That's my guess why Pac-12 boss Larry Scott went to The Wall Street Journal (instant credibility) and called the move "a game-changer." ... Who wins if such seeding occurs? The Pac-12 and Big Ten, that's who. They get a lesser challenge in the "first round" with the chance to advance, guaranteeing one of them a spot in the finals.

How can the B1G lay claim to being in the 4 teams that qualify for the NC ? they usuall get pummeled in bowl games. This is a farce ! All conferences winners should qualify and then seed the teams.

Please read closely. There is a strong possibility that ONLY two of the four teams would come from the PAC-12 vs BIG 10 and the BIG 12 vs the SEC (in other words the two WINNERS of those games could qualify as invitees to the Final Four).

No they haven't. Its Scott's way of trying to get a true Plus1, meaning the Rose Bowl would always be relevant and the MNC game would be chosen after the bowls.
Look for decisions to be made late June.

It appears to me that the 12PAC and B1G are trying to dictate everything and do so around the Rose Bowl.
