08:01 AM ET 05.29 | The first season of the Nnamdi Asomugha experiment in Philly didn't go as planned. There were impressive moments, sure, and by the end of the season he looked more at ease. ... During workouts this spring, Asomugha has been huddling up the cornerbacks and repeating the mantra, "Last year was about growth. This year is about showing what we've become." "I think about how much sweeter it's going to be now," Asomugha said, "when we do it after what we went through." Asmougha, the transplanted West Coaster, could have been speaking for Eagles fans who haven't experienced a championship for 52 years. He may not be from here, or even fit in, but if he delivers, the fans will love him for it.

After a whole season, they still don't know?

Over-rated... He over-achieved on a weak team in a weak division.

In hindsight... I'm glad we got Carr instead.

May 29, 2012  08:21 AM ET

A man to man corner in a zone defense? Not a proper fit.

May 29, 2012  08:29 AM ET

You'd think Philly would know better than taking the "buy the championship" approach when they have the Skins in the same division.

Morning all.

If he delivers? OK, if he delivers, I'll take a large pepperoni and onion pizza.

And I don't want the Philadelphia Eagles Defense Special Pizza that shows up with a few pieces missing.

I never realized that CB's are championship delivery boys.

DD, that was good. But, you don't want that pizza because the Pats used a similar recipe last year.

morning all, Philadelphia is still dreaming

Yup. Bill's Bakery served up their special, swiss cheese donuts. You've never seen so many holes.

Don't the fans love the players when they win it all anyway ? Philly fans are the worst anyway . These people booed Mike Schmidt for christs sake

EXACTLY!!!! he'll rebound this year big time and be the corner people were fearing from before. It doesn't help they had a new Defensive Coordinator take over last season... I expect their defense to be one of the top defenses this upcoming season

I am not sure he knows how to play other than man. So it better be that or once again it's just words.

I won't be passing judgment on the Philly Defense until after Week 6 of the upcoming season. If they've figured it out they could be very good.

If the team fails to make the playoffs don't expect Andy Reid to be around next year either. They knew everything they needed to know about him as a player, if he didn't/doesn't fit into their scheme then that is the fault of management. Maybe they are ragging on Asomugha so they don't have to address the other overly paid players on the team such as Vick.

What back woods wallow did the writer of this article climb out of; TRANSPLANTED WEST COASTER?, " HE MAY NOT BE FROM HERE, OR EVEN FIT IN" sounds like transcript from the TV movie " THE HATFIELDS AND McCOYS".
