College football's toughest schedule

08:14 AM ET 05.29 | Forget the power conferences, the nation's toughest schedule, at least as it sets up during this offseason, may belong to an independent. Notre Dame is one of the few programs that doesn't play any FCS programs. The closest things to "cupcake games" are the opener against Navy in Ireland (the Midshipmen have won 24 games the past three seasons); Purdue (a Big Ten team which won seven games in 2011); at BC (who did beat both NC State and Miami last year) or against Wake Forest (which has beaten FSU four of the past six times they've met.) More impressively, the Irish face five teams that have a good shot to be in the top 15: at Michigan State, Michigan, Stanford, at Oklahoma and then the Irish finish at arch-rival USC.

So, where will Arkie be this year, 5th in your division?

Who the hell knows.....Senior leadership at QB really helps. If Davis is healthy and the D has improved half as much as reported, this team could be good. O line really gelled at the end of the year and they had a great spring. W/ a good coach and no drama, thus is a 10-11 win team easy. As is, I still think we can win 9 games.

My bet, 9-3 regular season and 3rd in SEC W

This site doesn't rank ND any higher than 29 in the past 5 years for strength of schedule.

Will you be touting the toughest schedule when you all have 8/9 Ws at the end of the year?

It'll be the excuse for having the 8/9 wins
