08:03 AM ET 05.30 | Cam Newton admits he had some growing to do. Never mind the ridiculous numbers he put up and helped his teammates compile. Never mind the highlight plays. Never mind the Rookie of the Year award he earned. He was a bad teammate and that needs to change. Just ask him. "I was very immature," Newton said when asked about his sometimes moody reaction as losses piled up. "I'll be the first one to tell you, the pouting and the moping, I kind of overdid it. I know that. I was a bad teammate. I shut off to some people who gave unbelievable effort. .. That's where I have to mature." ... "Cam was angry because he thought he could and should make every play," said wide receiver Steve Smith.

Yeah, but it's a refreshing change in the Throw-Your-Teammates-Under-The-Bus League.

Will see how his 2nd yr. go's, now that teams have seen him and have some tape on him.

Reverse psychology.... It'll take the talking heads until 10 AM to figure this one out.

Feelin' guilty here. OK, OK, I was a bad fan sometimes last year. I would get moody and mope around sometimes when my team would not make every play I thought they should.

There, I feel better.

A little introspection is a sign of maturation.

I think this may be legitimate. And, his "immaturity" is a result of competitiveness; not so much blaming as it is blaming someone else. Why didn't I make that play? Why didn't I see the coverage? That's not saying my receiver didn't put forth the effort. I didn't like everything I was hearing about him coming out of college but I'm anxious to see him progress.

Newton, if he continues to mature, could be a force in the NFL. I have to admit, I was skeptical, but he looks like the real deal.

He threw too many INT's.

I will point out that this fan's team made enough plays to have a small modicum of success, though...

A lot of rookies do that. If he improves, then he's not Mark Sanchez.

When I read the title, I picture Will Smith portraying Ali saying "I'm a bad man...."

May 30, 2012  09:30 AM ET

I doubted Cam before last season with the best of them, he looks like the real deal when I watch him play.

It may be just for a soundbite but if he keeps saying the right things and doing the right things then the kid has one hell of a bright future in this league and could end up taking a team that everyone thought would be in transition for a number of years up to the front of the pack.

So did Brett Favre...worked out ok for him didnt it?? SMH...

Geez...he was asked to reflect on last year and he criticized himself...now ppl are saying it was a PR move??? Wow....SOME percentage of the population will just never give this guy a chance. Oh well...hes OUR QB here in Charlotte so the rest of the haters can BITE IT!
