Oswalt's ETA at Texas

08:16 AM ET 05.30 | Scott Feldman played the role of lame-duck starter Tuesday on a day that Texas lost -- but also won Roy Oswalt. [The Rangers] came to terms with Oswalt on Tuesday on a minor league deal that could end up putting at least $4 million in his pockets as he takes over for Neftali Feliz. Oswalt must pass a physical Thursday for the deal to be official, and he is expected to start Saturday at Triple A Round Rock. He has been working out at his home in Mississippi while waiting for a team in need of a starter to come calling. The three-time All-Star could be ready to join the Rangers the weekend of June 22-24, though club officials won't put a timetable on his debut. But they expect him to be more effective than Feldman.

Given how Feldman has performed since he took over for Feliz, Oswalt being more effective is certainly not a stretch.

Somebody said he'd sign with the highest bidder - Nope - guess he really liked Texas.....

Texas looks determined to make it back to the World Series. This move is one step of that process.

Texas needed to do something. Feldman has been a flop as a starter, they aren't swinging the bats like they were in April and the Angels have won eight straight.

I'm not sure Roy Oh-my-back Oswalt is the answer, though.

Looks like the new launching pad is Texas. Maybe they can work their magic on Ole Roy and then he can get new tires for that tractor of his.

If his back willl hold up through the All Star break, we can reverse the situation and have Feliz replace him in the rotation.

remains to be seen if an oft injured pitcher will make it that far or contribute enough. but it does show that the rangers are willing to pay for a gamble.

......rangers continue to only one need as we approach the half yr mark.....that is, they need a utility of bat from right side.....that deal will get done mid year..... bullpen will be the best in the history of mlb if feliz and feldman both return......sp is not on level of some others, but good enough to rank 3rd in al....seem will positioned for another run...

1/4 of the season in and we're now declaring the Rangers bullpen as the best in baseball history? Let's see how they hold up in that Texas heat in July and August.

Not that they need a 5th starter in the postseason anyway.
